Maddens on Gull Lake Wedding | Megan & Brad

Megan and Brad’s wedding was a winter lover’s dream! I’ve always loved winter weddings, and this one did not disappoint! From every design detail to the fresh fallen snow, it was perfect. Megan and Brad’s Maddens on Gull Lake wedding featured gorgeous emerald green accents, lake views, and snow-covered backdrops. The images are some of my favorite wedding photos I’ve ever captured!

Megan and Brad tied the knot in Brainerd, Minnesota. I shot another beautiful wedding on the same lake in Brainerd in 2019, so it was fun to return to the area for another special day! Megan and Brad’s wedding was during the thick of the COVID-19 pandemic. Coronavirus cases were peaking across the Midwest, and leaders were reinstating restrictions on businesses and gathering to help stop the spread. However, Megan and Brad didn’t let this stop them. They continued on with their wedding plans with a smaller guest list. The change in plans didn’t make the day feel any less special.

There is a unique story behind how Megan and Brad found me. Brad is cousins with one of my best friends, who referred me their way. Also, we discovered that my fiancé was Brad’s band director in high school. What a small world! I love when I have a personal connection to my couples. It helps break the ice and connect with them on a deeper level before their big day.

One of my favorite things about Megan and Brad’s wedding was the cozy feel. There was fresh snow on the ground, which lit up all of their images. The white snow created a beautiful backdrop that helped the couple and their wedding party pop! Madden’s reception space features multiple large fireplaces and antler chandeliers. These made it feel like we were all snuggled up in a cozy lodge. You can’t get more romantic than that!

Also, Megan’s fashion choices were on point! Can we talk about the emerald green velvet bridesmaid dresses?! They are so gorgeous! Emerald is quickly becoming one of my favorite wedding palette colors. I also hope the velvet trend continues, because it is so beautiful and practical for cooler seasons. Megan also wore an adorable cropped white leather jacket for some images to keep her warm in the cooler temps. I loved this accessory add! It was unique, practical, and still timeless and bridal.
