In honor of Mother’s Day this week, I’m sharing these adorable twin newborn photos with the Byriel family from this winter! I’ve grown to love capturing newborn and motherhood sessions lately, and shooting a twin session has been on my bucket list!
It was difficult for me to shoot newborn sessions soon after my sister passed away from pregnancy-related pulmonary embolism. However, I started making exceptions for friends and family, and now I love them! This is the first time I had the honor of meeting the full Byriel family, but Brett and I went to college together at Iowa State. He’s close friends with another recent newborn client of mine as well! When he reached out about shooting newborn photos for his growing family, I was so thrilled! I always love using photography to reconnect with people from my past.
We shot these photos in-home, which is the right choice for twin newborn photos. It can hard enough packing up everything you need for one baby to go to a studio, and twins just doubles that chaos! Luckily, Brett and Ariana have a gorgeous home with wonderful light. Keeping two newborn girls calm for their session was difficult, but we just embraced some of the chaos. Newborn babies cry. That’s just the way it is sometimes!
