I absolutely love when I get to take senior photos that are unique as the senior is. Katie was such a dream senior client. She has a distinct personal style and was so natural in front of the camera. When she told me she wanted to take senior pictures with her guitar, I knew the final images would be so fun!
I love when parents encourage their high school seniors to embrace their personalities for their photos. Senior pictures are meant to document this time in life and celebrate who you are as you begin adulthood. Therefore, why shouldn’t they reflect the real you? Parents who allow their seniors to choose outfits that are uniquely them are often the most fun to work with. It also provides me more creative freedom to capture photos that don’t look like everyone else’s. I loved that Katie rocked a band tee for some of her photos. It’s maybe not a traditional choice for senior pictures, but it was so “her.”
Senior Picture Props
Katie is an artistic type, specifically a musician. As a singer, performer, and guitarist, I knew I wanted to create senior pictures as unique as she is. Katie’s senior pictures with a guitar are definitely my favorite. A prop can provide so much variety to your final senior gallery. It helps create unique poses and tells a story with the photos. Don’t get me wrong, classic portraits are my love language, but it’s fun to add something unique! Some other props I love for senior photos are:
- Sporting equipment
The opportunities are endless! Simply incorporating layers into you outfit choices, like jackets or hats, can also help structure new poses and add variety. You can see another example of senior pictures with an instrument by checking out Carmen’s session on the blog!
