Minneapolis Newborn Photos

I am so excited to share baby Sophie’s Minneapolis newborn photos on the blog today! This little sweetheart was such a trooper for her session. She was just sleepy, sweet, and snuggly – exactly what you want for newborn photos. I am so thrilled for Sophie’s parents, Katie and Cody, for their new journey into parenthood.

I went to high school with Katie and Cody, and I was fortunate enough to capture their Hope Glen Farm wedding back in 2020. Unfortunately, Katie and Cody struggled to conceive, but they finally found success through IVF. I was so excited for them when I saw Katie’s Instagram post announcing they were expecting. This little baby girl was so longed for and so loved. You can just tell how excited these two were to finally hold their sweet girl in their arms. She truly is one of the cutest newborns I’ve ever seen and photographed. I could not get over those cheeks!

We captured these newborn photos in Katie and Cody’s adorable home in Eagan. It has great light and many great neutral walls I could use for backdrops. I love how these two opted for simple, neutral outfits so baby Sophie could stand out as the focal point of the photos. This is one of my biggest pieces of advice for newborn photography: think neutral! That helps get that lovely light and airy look that works so well for a session with a sweet little one.
