With the COVID-19 pandemic still surging across the United States, many of my clients have opted for ceremony only wedding photography. Amber and Greg have postponed their large wedding out a year, but they decided to have a ceremony-only celebration on their original date. They moved their ceremony outdoors for better air flow and decided to exchange vows on a beautiful frozen lake right by Amber’s parents’ house. It was definitely the most unique and gorgeous ceremony location I had photographed!
I will admit, once this pandemic is a thing of the past, I will miss these ceremony-only wedding days. The low pressure and simplicity of the day makes everyone much more relaxed. Only the most important people in the couple’s lives are there. While this may not have been the original plan for many 2020 and 2021 couples, it does have its benefits. Ceremony only wedding days are less stressful. There are less people to coordinate and entertain, which allows greater focus on you and your vows. Also, they are more intimate, which makes everything feel a little more romantic. While I am all about a good party and an open dance floor, something about a more simplistic wedding day really has its perks. I also shot Meghan and Tyler’s intimate ceremony only wedding this summer. While it was equally as wonderful and romantic, we had quite the opposite weather!
Amber & Greg got married in early January, which means cold in Minnesota! Amber and her bridesmaids were such troopers in their sleeveless dresses and fur shawls. I was bundled up head to toe and still freezing! I seriously don’t know how they did it. That is dedication to your friend, right there! I have to give special shout outs to my second photographer, Brooke Elisabeth Photography, and the wonderful videographers for the day, Andre Film Co.
