The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the world in every single way. It has forced engaged couples to cancel, postpone or re-plan their weddings in a whole new way. Luckily, Meghan and Tyler opted to have a ceremony only wedding with close family and friends rather than moving their entire celebration. Though they had to postpone their reception at Glenhaven Events, they decided to proceed with their ceremony at Meghan’s church. I was completely moved by how relaxed and joyful the couple and family were on this perfect day.
The couple had their first look and said “I do” at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rosemount, MN. I was fortunate enough to capture this sweet, relaxed, intimate wedding on the most perfect sunny day in June. I often joke that I carry a “curse” on wedding days; there always seems to be a high chance of rain for every wedding I shoot. Not for Meghan and Tyler, though! The forecast was sunny, high of 78, and no rain. It was the most perfect Minnesota summer day!
I had never shot a ceremony only wedding before, but I was so excited about the relaxed timeline! Usually weddings are filled with hustle. The couple has a tight timeline, a day full of photos, and never enough time to greet their guests. However, Meghan and Tyler had plenty of time to spend with their 25 guests. We got photos with everyone immediately following the ceremony, and the couple hosted a small reception in Meghan’s parents’ garage, complete with a taco bar, face masks, and plenty of hand sanitizer! While coronavirus stopped the couple’s friends from being present at the ceremony, Meghan and Tyler invited them to drive by the house to congratulate the newlyweds! Tyler even built a gorgeous pagoda for the couple to share their first dance under. It was so romantic and simple, just like the rest of their day.
I will never forget this wedding. I wish more couples chose to keep their original wedding dates and host smaller ceremonies like these two did. It was still incredibly joyful and romantic, and the smaller scale took the stress out of it all! Check out my favorites from Meghan and Tyler’s special day below!
