Makenzie and Sawyer’s fall Willow Brooke Farm wedding was a trendy, fashion-forward affair. I simply adored working with this couple from their engagement through their wedding. Kenzie has the most infectious energy and smile, and she perfectly complements Sawyer’s more subdued, quiet sweetness.

Makenzie and I connected initially on a somewhat strange subject: grief. Kenzie lost her dad a few years ago, and she knew her wedding day would be difficult without him. I was absolutely honored with Kenzie told me that one of the reasons she hired me to capture her wedding day was because of how openly I share my own grief journey on social media. After my sister passed away in 2021, and I began to talk about my grief journey, I was nervous about how talking about such heavy, depressing content would affect my business. However, I never expected it to actually help my business grow. It just goes to show how much of the wedding and photography industry is about connection versus just pretty pictures.

As soon as I met Kenzie at their engagement session, I knew her and Sawyer’s wedding day would be a trendy affair! Makenzie has amazing style, so I knew her taste was top-notch. I absolutely loved her mix-and-match fall bridesmaids dresses and her gorgeous custom gown (she added those beautiful, signature sleeves to the dress)!

Sawyer and Makenzie were also total troopers on their unseasonably-hot wedding day. It felt like 90 degrees despite it being late September, and there were many bugs flying around during the ceremony. However, you’d never know it from their photos!
