Annika and Jimmy’s wedding at The Calhoun Beach Club was the stuff dreams are made of. While photographing this wedding, I felt like I had gone back in time. Every single detail was timeless and elegant. Annika wore a stunning, classic ballgown. Jimmy is in the Navy, so he wore is formal Navy whites. Is there anything more handsome than a man in uniform?! I had photographed a military wedding before, but it was interesting to see how the Navy had its own unique traditions.

Basilica of Saint Mary Wedding Ceremony

The Beach Club (formerly the Calhoun Beach Club) in Minneapolis has been on my wedding photography bucket list for a few years now. It made the perfect backdrop for Annika and Jimmy’s timeless wedding day. Annika and Jimmy’s ceremony took place at the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis. This is a historic cathedral in the heart of Minneapolis with breathtaking detail. Annika truly looked like a princes as she walked down the long aisle to see her groom for the first time that day.

After the wedding, I met with the wedding party in the courtyard of the Basilica to photograph the group and to do a sword arch. An arch of swords is a Navy tradition at weddings and it makes for beautiful, unique photos. I love how Jimmy and Annika embraced the Navy traditions to add unique touches to their wedding day.

The Beach Club Wedding Reception

After some photos, we hopped on a bus to head to The Calhoun Beach Club wedding reception. I literally gasped when I saw the reception space all decorated and complete. The natural light that pours into The Beach Club wedding reception space is so gorgeous! Also, the couple put so many unique touches into their reception. Annika loves champagne, so they had a champagne wall set as guests arrived that doubled as each guest’s escort card. So unique! Also, the appetizers were mini tacos and margaritas. It was literally my dream cocktail hour!

This The Calhoun Beach Club wedding will go down in history as one of my all time favorites. I’m obsessed with the timeless style mixed with the nods to the Navy throughout the day. Let me know what you think about it in the comments!
