Landmark Center Wedding | Mattie & Michael

Weddings

March 12, 2022

Mattie and Mike’s winter Landmark Center wedding was such a dream to photograph. Not only was their wedding day classy and timeless, but this couple is just plain fun. With a wedding party of 20 people ready to party, this day was a blast from morning to night.

How they met

Mattie and Michael might have the coolest “how we met” story of any couple I’ve ever worked with! They met on a plane flying back from Destin, Florida. How cute is that?! It’s a story straight out of a rom com! Every couple’s story is cute in its own way, but this one sounds like a script from Hollywood.

The Wedding Day

The energy all day was pure celebration. Everyone was incredibly supportive and helpful, while also being ready to celebrate the newlyweds. You could just feel how much every person at this wedding loved Mattie and Mike – and loved them together! We started the day at the Saint Paul Hotel, where Mattie and her girls got ready. The L’Etoile Room in the hotel is a perfect little bridal suite where we were able to snap some gorgeous getting ready portraits. I loved Mattie’s simple wedding gown and the black bridesmaids dresses with a similar cut and style. The black and white palette was perfect for a winter wedding at a historical venue!

After Mattie and Mike were ready, we went to the Landmark Center to do their first look and shoot some family and wedding party portraits. Since it was February in Minnesota, I wanted to do as many indoor photos as possible. We used one of the historic courtrooms in the Landmark Center as our backdrop, and it really helped create some unique backdrops and had stunning light!

Reception

The couple officially tied to the knot at St. John Lutheran Church in Saint Paul before we returned to the Landmark Center for their reception. Events by Melody and Sadie’s Floral did an amazing job turning the Landmark Center into a dreamy, romantic reception space. The reception also featured a photo booth and a coffee bar fully equipped with flavored syrups, whipped cream, and toppings. What a fun idea for a chilly February winter wedding!

After a delicious dinner from Lake Elmo Inn, the best man, maid of honor, and bride’s dad made toasts. These were full of laughter and praise for both Mattie and Mike. You could just tell that every person in the room adored these two people and were so thrilled they had found each other. Then, Bluewater Kings brought the house down with a great set list of oldies, Motown and country to dance the night away.
